About

Charlotte Gu is your therapist. She has her spiritual team who works with her throughout. Even though it’s a one-woman army, it’s a team effort from her perspective, so she tends to use the word “we".

Charlotte has a combined degree in Engineering and Commerce from the University of Melbourne, and has been working as a Software Engineer for years before she discovered the amazing electric system our bodies run on. Very curious in nature, she then went on and studied everything she could find about the esoteric, and in turn, got to know herself very thoroughly. She can always see a version of her self in her clients and help them through the issues.

It's not an easy world to navigate, especially when you have a lot of bodily dysfunctions. She has lived it, been through the medical system where she has been repeatedly told "Not possible". There was a lot of struggle at the start, because her experiences were in direct conflict with the advice of medical professionals. "But it did happen, and you can't deny my own experience!" She eventually understood that being a doctor is a job, just like everything else, and the people in the industry operates based on what they have been told, ie second-, third-, or even hundredth-hand opinions. They don't have actual experiences of the symptoms, or the ability to sense into what it is like to be the body in front of them to detect the dysfunction: they couldn't possibly have done anything better. She realised it's a matter of trying to buy Sushi from Hungry Jacks. Pretty silly, don't you think?

“What good does it do, if you had all the knowledge and wisdom, but stashed away in a temple, in the middle of nowhere?” So she nerded out into becoming a kickass therapist, just as she has always been in programming. She then created Joyability when she was satisfied with the efficacy of her skills and abilities. After hours and hours of training, interning and receiving treatment herself, she has developed her intuitions very well, and uses it to drive sessions and heal her own universe.

Charlotte remains an excellent problem solver outside of programming. She tends to dive straight into it, unlike most other practitioners you met in the New Age space. She doesn't care too much about all that love and light fluff, what you see is what you get. Results is everything to her, in that, she demands them to be concrete, repeatable and sustained. (Yes, she has impossibly high standards when it comes to her work, but they only come about as a side effect of her constant tinkering and exploration.)
